Being a parent is one of the hardest, but also one of the most rewarding jobs in the world, with very little pay and NO holidays!!

Here at the BPBP we recognise this and appreciate just how hard this can be, especially if the techniques you are applying aren’t as effective as they could be. If you feel like you would like to explore what support is out there or what it may look like, then please invite your child’s school to complete the Family Support Triage Form.

We have a very realistic approach to parenting and we work alongside you as a parent and provide access to an individualised package of support that meets the needs and ideas that you may have. Each package is designed with your child and your parenting style in mind. This can take place in a number of ways (depending on your circumstances and/or preferences) but can include:

– face to face

– online (video call or email)

– telephone discussions

– signposting to appropriate services (ie Health, therapeutic services, CAMHS etc)

– or a combination of them all.

We are a non-for-profit partnership supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties in Bassetlaw Primary schools. As we are a voluntary service, ultimately YOU are in charge! We will work alongside you and so your engagement is key for success, so it is vital for you to believe in and understand the techniques you are applying and our role to help you with this. We need to work together to make it work and help your child to achieve their full potential.

Paperwork

A pack containing the following documents prepared and sent to parent/carer and Governors:

  1. A letter inviting the parents to the hearing (including a link to the DfE Suspension and Permanent Exclusion Guidance and Notts advice for parents)
  2. Letter informing parents of the Permanent Exclusion
  3. Headteacher’s / principal’s Report
  4. Anonymised witness statements (if relevant)
  5. An order of hearing
  6. Academy / school’s behaviour policy

Ensure that the pages of the pack are numbered consecutively and the report paginated.

Discipline Committee HT report

The chair of the committee will read from the agenda (annotated one provided if needed). Part of the hearing is for the HT to ‘make a case’ for the exclusion. It is imperative that this is presented in a manner that ensures that guidance and the law, has been followed. Please click below for an example.

Investigation (sub notes)

  • In respect to the incident / proposed exclusion, the HT (or SLT member in the HT absence) needs to undertake a detailed investigation. Do not pre-empt the outcomes of this investigation. Use pupil and staff interviews and record carefully what has happened. If staff compile a witness statement, ensure these are signed and dated by both the person compiling it AND a witness to the date / time it was written.
  • Once this investigation is concluded, progress to step 2
